Cofounder CLI

Create a Company

Create the company everything belongs to, select it, and invite the people who share it.

Everything in Cofounder scopes to a company (knowledge, connections, managed resources, the roadmap, billing), so the first thing you do is make one. One account can run several companies, and each keeps its own context and state.

Create one

MCPCLIAPI
company_createcofounder company createPOST /cofounder-cli/v1/company
cofounder company create "Acme Analytics"

The new company becomes your active selection, so later commands target it without you saying so. To switch it, or to aim a single call at a different company, see Multiple Companies.

Your first company includes $5 of starter credit. Each additional company costs $5, credited to its starting balance. The CLI opens Stripe Checkout or provides an MPP payment URL. After paying, retry with the same company name, --request-id, and --pay-with values.

If you're using MCP or a plugin, complete any required checkout in the Cofounder dashboard, then retry the company creation request.

Company creation is available through the CLI and MCP. However, only the CLI returns a company API key that can be used instead of CLI OAuth authentication.

Invite members

A company doesn't have to be a solo act. You can invite the people who share it:

MCPCLIAPI
company_members_listcofounder company members listGET /cofounder-cli/v1/company/members
company_members_invitecofounder company members invitePOST /cofounder-cli/v1/company/members/invite
company_members_role_setcofounder company members role setPATCH /cofounder-cli/v1/company/members/{user_id}/role
company_members_removecofounder company members removeDELETE /cofounder-cli/v1/company/members/{user_id}

Each invitee gets their own Cofounder login, and their agents act on the same company.

If you created the company here but it should belong to a web account, claim commands hand it over:

MCPCLIAPI
company_claim_token_createcofounder company claim-token createPOST /cofounder-cli/v1/company/claim-token
company_claim_link_rotatecofounder company claim-link rotatePOST /cofounder-cli/v1/company/claim-link/rotate
company_claim_status_getcofounder company claim-status getGET /cofounder-cli/v1/company/claim-status
company_claimcofounder company claim --owner-email <email>POST /cofounder-cli/v1/company/claim

All three claim mutations issue or rotate a single-use link and email it. They return only status, owner_email, and expires_at, never the link or token. sent means the email provider accepted the message; the human must open the emailed link to claim the company. Rotation invalidates the previous link.

The recipient defaults to the owner email saved at agent signup. Pass --owner-email when none was saved. Only companies created by agent signup are eligible. Agent company creation also emails the saved owner and returns the same metadata in claim; without a saved recipient, it returns status: owner_email_required. Run company claim --owner-email <email> to send it, then use claim-status get to check whether the company was claimed.

The creating agent starts as a company admin. Claiming adds the human as another admin and preserves the agent's current role. The human can still demote or remove the agent and revoke its company API key; claiming does not undo those changes.

Settings

Settings hold the company's name, default timezone, postal address for customer email, and whether a staging deploy needs approval before it goes live. Changing them takes a company admin.

MCPCLIAPI
company_settings_getcofounder company settings getGET /cofounder-cli/v1/company/settings
company_settings_updatecofounder company settings updatePATCH /cofounder-cli/v1/company/settings
company_settings_replacecofounder company settings replacePUT /cofounder-cli/v1/company/settings
cofounder company settings update --timezone America/Chicago

settings update changes only what you pass. settings replace rewrites all of them, so anything you leave out is cleared or reset. Renaming the company keeps its slug, URLs, and id. Turning live-deploy approval on or off needs a signed-in admin, not an API key.

Your details and business

Your details (legal name, contact email, mobile phone, home address) are saved on your account and used for every company you run. A company is your sole proprietorship until you record a formed LLC or corporation as its business. Cofounder uses what company business get returns (legal_name, entity_type, address) to register domains, set up texting, and fill email footers, so you enter it once. The legal name is the company's name, so rename the company to change it. domains purchase fills any registrant field you leave out from your details. Tax ID numbers, SSNs, and dates of birth are never stored. The business takes a company admin.

MCPCLIAPI
user_details_getcofounder user details getGET /cofounder-cli/v1/users/me/details
user_details_replacecofounder user details replacePUT /cofounder-cli/v1/users/me/details
user_details_deletecofounder user details deleteDELETE /cofounder-cli/v1/users/me/details
company_business_getcofounder company business getGET /cofounder-cli/v1/company/business
company_business_replacecofounder company business replacePUT /cofounder-cli/v1/company/business
company_business_deletecofounder company business deleteDELETE /cofounder-cli/v1/company/business
cofounder user details replace --first-name Ada --last-name Lovelace --phone +14155550123
cofounder company business replace --entity-type llc --formation-state DE

Each replace rewrites the whole record. company business delete makes the company a sole proprietorship again.

Brand kit

MCPCLIAPI
company_brand_getcofounder company brand getGET /cofounder-cli/v1/company/brand

brand get tells you whether a kit exists and whether it's waiting for review or locked, links to view it, and lists the company's brand files. See Brand and design for the other brand commands.
